NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and NHS Devon are seeking an exceptional chief executive and accountable officer at a pivotal moment for both organisations.
This is a remarkable opportunity to lead two integrated care boards (ICBs) that sit at the heart of one of England’s most distinctive and diverse health and care systems.
Both ICBs are currently operating as a ‘cluster’ with a single board, chaired by John Govett, and executive and senior leadership team, ahead of a planned potential merger next year.
The ‘cluster’ arrangement supports national reforms requiring ICBs to transition to a strategic role with shared leadership and reduced running costs.
Covering Devon, Plymouth, Torbay and Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, the ICBs serve communities that are proud of their local identity, ambitious for their future, and committed to working together to improve health and wellbeing for all.

The chief executive will play a critical role in leading the organisation and overseeing the successful delivery of the ICB’s four core statutory duties:

NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and NHS Devon have a combined annual budget of £5 billion and are responsible commissioning the majority of NHS services across both counties.
This includes planned care, urgent care, primary care, community care, mental health, learning disabilities and autism, maternity and children and young people’s services.
Both organisations work closely with a wide range of partners including NHS acute, community and mental health trusts, the ambulance service, GP practices, local authorities, pharmacies, dental surgeries and a wide range of independent voluntary sector organisations/groups.
